Peaden switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party on June 27, 1997. He served in the Florida State House of Representatives from 1994 to 2000. He then joined the Florida State Senate, serving district 1 from 2000-2002. In 2002 Peaden won election to the 2nd district seat, and has served in that position since.
Peaden earned his BA from Tulane University in 1968. He went on to receive his MD from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1973. He then earned his JD from Faulkner University Jones School of Law in 1987.
Peaden is a retired General Practice Physician.
