Elections
2012
Rumsey filed to run in the 2012 election for South Carolina House of Representatives District 2 but was decertified from the ballot. He filed and was accepted as a Petition Candidate and was on the ballot for the November 6 general election where he was defeated.[2][3]
In an attempt to salvage the primary, Rumsey said he called U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint and U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan to try and get a county Republican primary back on track for August. Of the Supreme Court ruling, he said, "We’ve got to have a better way to have someone besides incumbents on the November ballot."[3]
