Acevedo won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 2. He defeated Joe Trutin and Temoc Morfin in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012 and was unopposed in the November 6 general election.[1][2]

Acevedo won re-election to the 2nd District Seat in 2010 with no opposition. He defeated Robert Martinez (1,204 votes), Joe Trutin (1,058 votes), and Richard Schultz (850 votes) in the Democratic primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[3]
