Eight ex-ACORN workers pleaded guilty to federal election fraud. According to U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway, while employed to register voters during the 2006 election, the eight submitted registrations with fake names, addresses, and forged signatures.[1]
Each faces the possibility of up to five years in jail and thousands of dollars in fines. ACORN said that the workers were most likely trying to earn more by turning in a greater number of registrations.
