Elections
2012
Mastromatteo was defeated by republican David Joyce.[1] Mastromatteo ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 14th District. She ran unopposed in the March 6, 2012 Green Party primary.
Steven C. LaTourette announced his retirement on July 31, 2012, delaying the announcement long enough to prevent the need for a special election to fill the 14th district seat. A replacement nominee will be appointed for the Republican nomination.[2][3]
The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in Ohio in 2012 as one of the states that could determine whether Democrats retake the House or Republicans will holds its majority in 2013.[4] Ohio tied with Pennsylvania for 9th on the list.[4]
