Personal
Kinnaird earned her BA from Carleton College in 1953. She went on to receive her MM in Music from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1973. She then earned her JD from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1992.
Kinnaird was a Private Music Teacher and Performer from 1973 to 1982. She then worked as Library Technical Assistant for the University of North Carolina Music Library and Wilson Library from 1982 to 1989. She also worked as an attorney for North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services, Incorporated, from 1993 to 2003. She has been an attorney since 2004.
Kinnaird is divorced with three children.
