Highway workers in Florida discovered hundreds of election questionnaires containing information about Tampa residents, their political affiliations and personal information scattered across I-274 Monday morning. The sheets were in alphabetical order and had checked boxes marking whether Tampa voters supported Barack Obama or John McCain and whether they needed assistance in getting to polling locations.[1]
Florida Department of Transportation responds
When questioned, the FDoT stated that they did not know where the surveys came from, nor what they were.[1] A spokesperson for FDoT postulated that the documents fell off a truck carrying them to a central location in Tampa. The FDoT contacted a separate organization to dispose of the documents and that organization turned the documents over to the office of Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Buddy Johnson for inspection.[1]
