Griego was the City Councilman on the Albuquerque City Council from 2001 to 2005.
Biography
Griego was President and co-founder of Engaging Communication, LLC, from 2001 to 2005. He then worked as Assistant Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Economic Development Department from 2005 to 2007. He was Executive Director for New Mexico Voices from Children since 2007 until 2011 when he began his congressional campaign.[2]
Griego earned his BA in Journalism and Government from New Mexico State University in 1989. He went on to receive his MPA in Public Management from the University of Maryland in 1991.
In February 2012, the grassroots organization Democracy for America, founded by Howard Dean, named Griego one of the top 10 progressive candidates in the 2012 U.S. House races.[3]

Griego ran for the U.S. House in 2012.[5] He lost to Michelle Lujan Grisham in the June 5 Democratic primary.[1][6]

A poll put Griego and Grisham neck and neck, leading Chavez.[7] The poll showed Griego leading among Hispanics, women, and liberals, while Grisham led among men and Anglos.

On November 4, 2008, Griego was election to the 14th district in the New Mexico Senate. Griego had no challenger. [10]
