When asked about "three major things... to accomplish if elected" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Mendoza replied: [1]
Number one on my list is bringing more jobs to Nevada, number 2 would be improving our Education system here in Nevada and number 3 would be doing something about our housing crisis. I also feel that all three of these issues are of equal significance.

Mendoza ran in the 2012 election for Nevada State Assembly, District 20. Mendoza defeated Daniel Stakleff in the June 12 primary election and was defeated by Ellen Spiegel (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4][5]
