Schmitt won re-election in the 2012 election for Missouri State Senate, District 15. Schmitt ran unopposed in the August 7 Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

On November 4, 2008, Schmitt won election to the 15th District Seat in the Missouri State Senate, defeating James Trout (D).[3]
