Leidiger works for Brothers Office Furniture. Ernie also co-founded a charity, Operation Homefront.
Leidiger graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in General Engineering. He received his Master's of Science degree from Salve Regina College, and his Master's of Arts in national security and strategic planning from the U.S. Naval War College.

Leidiger won re-election in the 2012 election for Minnesota House of Representatives District 47A. He was unopposed in the Republican primary on August 14 and defeated Keith Pickering (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
2010
Leidiger won election to the District 34A Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Leanne Pouliot Kunze (DFL) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
