Fairbanks Proposition A, Creation of General Obligation School Bond (October 2009)
Proposition A, Creation of General Obligation School Bond was on the October 6, 2009 ballot ballot in Fairbanks North Star Borough.
This measure was approved
- YES 958 (57.64%)
- NO 704 (42.36%)[1]
The proposition created a bond for the amount of $11,950,000 which will be used to upgrade and renovate the Weller, Salcha, and Badger Road Elementary Schools as well as Lathrop and North Pole High Schools.
Some voters were hesitant to vote in a large debt that would be created by this bond, but school workers implore that the repairs are greatly needed in order to keep a safe and efficient learning environment for the students that attend. The ballot proposition is not worded in an easy to read manner either, making the vote more complicated for the voter. It was hoped though, that the bottom line will be read and the measure will be approved.[2]
