A Fall City Metropolitan Park District, Proposition 1 will be on the February 3, 2009 ballot in King County, Washington for voters in the proposed Fall City Metropolitan Park District. The measure was approved by vote of 58% in support and 42% opposed.[1]

The King County Council passed Ordinance No. 16282 concerning a proposition to create the Fall City metropolitan park district. If approved, this proposition would create a metropolitan park district encompassing portions of King County Fire Protection District No. 27 and various adjacent neighborhoods. The district would have all of the powers provided in chapter 35.61 RCW, including the authority to levy a general tax not to exceed $0.75 per $1,000 of assessed valuation on all property located in the district each year. The park district would be governed by a five-member board of commissioners to be elected at large.

If this proposition is approved, a metropolitan park district would be created to manage, control, improve, maintain, and acquire parks, parkways, boulevards and recreation facilities. The district would be known as the Fall City Metropolitan Park District and would have the boundaries set forth in Attachment A to King County Ordinance No. 16282.
