An effort to recall all five members of the Feather River Recreation and Park District Board of Directors was launched in September 2011 and abandoned in February 2012 due to a lack of signatures. [1][2] The names of the recall targets are T.J. Jensen, Loren Gill, Bob Sharkey, Jan Hill, and John Allen. Sharkey tendered his resignation in January 2012. [3]
Reasons for recall
Recall organizers cited a number of motivations for their recall campaign:
- Interim Assistant General Manager Shawn Brandt fired staff and hired her two daughters.
- Financial manager Susan Martin was fired, received a $50,000 settlement, signed a contract saying she would never again work for the district, then was rehired and given an $8,000 a year pay raise.
- Unreliable record-keeping, including the shredding of documents without following district policies and procedures. [2]
Path to the ballot
Recall organizers needed to submit 4,853 valid signatures for each recall target in order to force a recall election. They submitted 4,747 signatures for John Allen, 4,667 for Jensen, 1,324 for Gill and 1,252 for Hill. [1]
