TALLAHASSEE, Florida: U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle has stated that as soon as the federal appeals court dismisses the state's appeal of his decision, he will grant a permanent injunction blocking the state's new voter ID laws. The state is attempting to appeal a ruling Judge Hinkle made on May 31 declaring the new laws "probably unconstitutional." The laws in question were passed by the state’s Republican lawmakers and placed new restrictions on voter registration groups.[1]
