Fight for North Dakota University nickname may carry into 2014
BISMARCK, North Dakota: Supporters of the "Fighting Sioux" nickname for UND sports teams have decided not to put the issue before voters again this year and are instead gearing up for a spot on the June ballot in 2014.
The measure being proposed differs from the referendum voted on earlier this year in that it is a constitutional amendment and would be much more difficult to overturn if passed because it would amend the state's constitution.
Upcoming: Two measures are scheduled to appear on the November 6, 2012 North Dakota ballot.
|Measure 1||Admin of gov't||Would revoke the authority for the poll tax and remove the offensive language|
|Measure 2||Admin of gov't||Would require the governor and other executive officials to take an oath of office|
