The Florida End Corporate Welfare Act did not appear on the November 4, 2008 statewide ballot in Florida as an initiated constitutional amendment. No signatures were filed to place the measure on the ballot. Wording for the initiative was filed by Sean Concannon, who was the chairperson of the sponsoring organization, End Corporate Welfare. 611,009 valid signatures would have been required in order for the initiative to make the ballot.
Ballot summary
The objective of the initiative:
Prohibits the State and its political subdivisions from transferring tax revenue or granting tax reductions of any type to private business of any description, with exceptions of purchases of property, goods or services, and the payment of damages and costs. Allows individuals to bring enforcement actions in court. Eliminates the selective tax treatment of particular businesses or classes of businesses.
