Florida Judiciary Act (1996)

Florida Amendment 3, also known as the Judiciary Act, was on the November 5, 1996 election ballot in Florida. It passed, with 74.9% of voters in favor.

Amendment 2 was legislatively-referred to the ballot by the Florida State Legislature as a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution.

Text of the proposal

The language that appeared on the ballot:

Proposing amendments to the State Constitution to allow judicial nominating commissions to recommend from three up to six persons to fill a court vacancy; and to restructure the Judicial Qualifications Commission and permit additional sanctions for judicial misconduct.
