Frank Metzger was a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 13th Congressional District of Illinois. Metzger was defeated by incumbent Timothy Johnson in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012.[1]

Biography

Metzger is a native of New Jersey.[2]

Career

Metzger served in the U.S. Navy during the 1960s, including two tours of duty in Vietnam.[2] Metzger is a retired ironworker who now runs Trees, Trees and More Trees in Glen Carbon, Illinois.[2]

Metzger ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Illinois' 13th District. Metzger sought the nomination on the Republican ticket. [3] The signature filing deadline was December 27, 2011, with the primary taking place on March 20, 2012.

Metzger and candidate Michael Firsching were defeated by incumbent Timothy Johnson in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012. [1] The Democratic primary between candidates David Gill and Matt Goetten was incredibly close, and in the end Gill narrowly beat out Goetten.[1]

Personal

Metzger moved to the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area about 15 years ago.[2]
