Fred Girod has been a Republican member of the Oregon State Senate. Girod is a former member of Stayton Budget Committee and Stayton City Council. He served in the Oregon State House of Representatives from 1993 to 1994 and again from 2006 to 2008. He was appointed to the Oregon State Senate in 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 9th district.

Girod is a former Real Estate Developer. He was also partner in Lakeside Assisted Care Facility. He is currently a dentist.

Girod earned his BS from Oregon State University. He went on to receive his DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University. He then earned his MPA from Harvard University.

Girod won re-election in the 2012 election for Oregon State Senate District 9. Girod was unopposed in the May 15 Republican primary and defeated Steve Frank (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

On November 4, 2008, Girod was re-elected to the 9th District Seat in the Oregon State Senate, besting Bob McDonald (D). [3] Girod raised $154,289 for his campaign, while McDonald raised $9,480. [4]
