Paur ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota Senate District 19. Paur and fellow incumbent Wayne Trottier ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12. They defeated Carol Gierszewski and former District 16 incumbent Robert Kilichowski in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]

Paur won election to the North Dakota House of Representatives in the November 2 general election. Paur and Wayne Trottier (R) defeated incumbent Chris Griffin (D) and Bernice Kvasager (D).[2]
