Gene Rardin
Gene Rardin was a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 16th District. He served from 2007-2011.
Prior to his election, Rardin worked a diverse number of jobs including as a teacher with the Shawnee Mission District, a project engineer for Kansas City Power and Light, and a telecommunications manager. In addition, he has owned his own Career Consulting and Training Business for 14 years.[1]
He received degrees in education and electrical engineering from Kansas University, and also has an M.B.A. from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Rardin and wife Juanita have been married for 44 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.
Policy Positions
Rardin's website lists his legislative priorities as quality education, affordable health care for every Kansan, low and fair taxes, and encouraging the local economy.[2]
Rardin refused to take Project Vote Smart's 2008 Political Courage Test. The test, which is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices, asks one central question - "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?"[3]

Elections
2010
Rardin lost his bid for re-election to the 16th District seat against Amanda Grosserode (R). Rardin had no opposition in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Rardin was re-elected to the 16th District Seat in the Kansas House of Representatives, defeating Jim Yonally (R).[6] Rardin raised $56,334 for his campaign, while Yonally raised $13,713.[7]
