Biography
Holding grew up in Raleigh. He attended Groton School in Massachusetts and then graduated from Wake Forest University in 1990. He went on to get his J.D. from Wake Forest as well in 1996. [2]

- One of his more high profile cases involved initiating the prosecution of former Democratic Senator John Edwards. He had resigned to run for Congress, and did not participate in the bulk of the hearing.[2]

Holding ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing North Carolina's 13th District. Holding won the nomination on the Republican ticket. [4] The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was February 29, 2012. Holding defeated Paul Coble and Bill Randall in the Republican primary.[5]
The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in North Carolina in 2012 as one of the states that could have determined whether Democrats retook the House or Republicans held their majority in 2013.[6] North Carolina was rated 8th on the list.[6]
