Georgia Amendment 1, also known as the Amendment to make someone who defaults on his or her taxes ineligible to hold public office, was on the November 7, 2002 election ballot in Georgia. It passed, with 78.7% of voters in favor.
Text of the proposal
The language that appeared on the ballot:
Shall the Constitution be amended so as to provide that certain officeholders or candidates who are defaulters for federal state, local taxes shall be ineligible to hold any public office in this state?
