Georgia offers Tennessee a solution to border war
Atlanta, Georgia: As previously reported, Georgia and Tennessee are currently at odds over a 1.5-mile strip of land in Tennessee. Georgia legislators claim the land rightly belongs to their state, and with it access to the waters of the Tennessee River. Lawmakers in the Volunteer State disagree, citing de facto law as proof of their ownership. Earlier this month, the Georgia legislature passed another resolution, this time offering a solution. In exchange for providing access to a billion gallons of water a day from the river, Georgia promises not to take the issue to the Supreme Court. It is unclear at this time whether or not Tennessee's lawmakers are seriously considering accepting this proposal.
