The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 5, 2014. Sandra Williams defeated Gerald Carver Henley and Willie Lewis Britt in the Democratic primary, while Sikiru Kafaru was unopposed in the Republican primary. Williams defeated Kafaru in the general election.[1]
