Gerald VanWoerkom has been a Republican member of the Michigan Senate since 2002. Van Woerkom was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010. Van Woerkom is term limited in 2010. ]Van Woerkom also served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002.

Van Workeom graduated with his Bachelor's degree in World History from Calvin College and his Master's Degree in Education from Michigan. Van Workeom is a retired teacher and school administrator.
