Gerry Garcia is a financial consultant for LPL Financial and a former alderman for the ninth ward. On October 30, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of Secretary of State, a seat that is being vacated by Susan Bysiewicz, who, since dropping out of the state attorney general race, has decided not to run for re-election to her current position. ^[1] He failed to secure the party nomination after receiving only thirty-six percent of the vote on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. ^[2]
