Johnson ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Washington's 2nd District.[2] He sought the nomination as an Independent and faced incumbent Rick Larsen (D), Dan Matthews (R), Eli Olson (R), John C. W. Shoop (R) and Mike Lapointe (99% Party) in the August 7 primary; the top two vote-getters appeared on the general election ballot.[3] Johnson was defeated in the August 7, 2012, primary.[4]
