Marian Olson, Councilor Mary Weaver, and a group of largely anonymous co-conspirators failed to force recall elections for the other six of seven Golden City Council members.[1] [2]
The group received approval for the recall petition forms on Dec. 23, and they had until February 20 to get enough petition signatures. State law requires at least 25 percent of the total votes cast in the last regular election for that seat, which ranges from a few hundred to more than 1,000.[1] The group did not submit the necessary signatures by the deadline. [2]
Much of the issue stemmed from the City Council deciding to consolidate management of all three of the community's historical museums under one non-profit, resulting in some citizens' contracts going without renewal.[1]
