Marian Olson and Mary Weaver attempted, but failed, to qualify for the ballot a recall elections for 7 members of the Golden, Colorado City Council.[1][2]

Recall supporters received approval for the recall petition forms on December 23, 2008 and they had until February 20 to get enough petition signatures. State law requires signatures totalling at least 25% of the total votes cast in the last regular election for that seat, which ranges from a few hundred to more than 1,000.[1] The group did not submit the necessary signatures by the deadline.[2]

The motivation for the unsuccessful recall effort appears to have been the city's decision to consolidate management of all three of the community's historical museums under one non-profit.[1]
