Grand Rapids Income Tax Increase (May 2010)

There was a Grand Rapids Income Tax Increase measure on the May 4 ballot in Kent County for voters in the city of Grand Rapids.

This measure was approved

  • YES 9,763 Approveda
  • NO 9,559[1]

City officials were holding a special election for this measure because they are in need of money and believe it is better to have the money sooner, as early as July 1, rather than waiting for the regular elections in August or November. The proposed income increase would be near $7 million since this measure was approved. Significant budget cuts are on the agenda if the measure is not approved.[2]
