This measure sought to renew the current school levy which was set at a rate of $.41 per $100 of assessed property value for a further ten years in order to continue to pay for emergency requirements as needed in the school district area.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall a levy renewing an existing levy be imposed by the Greenville City School District, for the purpose of PROVIDING FOR THE EMERGENCY REQUIREMENTS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, in the sum of $1,640,000, and a levy of taxes to be made outside of the ten-mill limitation estimated by the county auditor to average four and fifteenhundredths (4.15) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to forty-one cents ($0.41) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a period of ten (10) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013?
