On November 8, 2011, Haney won election to District 118 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He defeated John McCay in the primary on August 2, 2011. He defeated incumbent Roger Ishee in a primary run-off election on August 23.[1] Haney was unchallenged in the November 8 general election.
