A City of Gustine Sales Tax, Measure N ballot question appeared on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Merced County, California for voters in the City of Gustine, where it was defeated.

Measure N proposed increasing the city sales tax in Gustine by three-quarters of a cent.

  • Yes: 740 votes, or 48.52%
  • No: 785 votes, or 51.48% Defeated

The text of Measure N was:

The Gustine Vital City Services Protection Measure. To maintain safety and vital city services including, but not limited to maintaining emergency response times by retaining police officers and sustaining fire protection services, repairing streets and roads and other general city services, shall the ordinance be adopted increasing the city general sales tax by three-quarter cent, with guaranteed independent financial audits?

Measure B in 2009

Following the November 2008 rejection of Measure N, politicians in Gustine voted to put Measure B on the November 3, 2009 ballot.
