Harley Mikkelson was a 2012 Green Party candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from Michigan. He was formerly the 2010 Green Party candidate for Governor of Michigan. He previously ran for the United States Senate in 2008 and the United States House of Representatives in 2002 and 2004.
Mikkelson worked as a Family Independence Specialist with the State of Michigan from 1997-2002, a social worker from 1993-1997, House Parent with the Michigan School for the Deaf from 1978-1993, Resident Care Aide with the Michigan Department of Mental Health from 1972-1975, and served in the United States Army, Vietnam.[1]

Mikkelson lost to incumbent Debbie Stabenow[2] Mikkelson ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Michigan. He ran as a Green Party candidate and faced incumbent Debbie Stabenow (D), Pete Hoekstra (R), Scotty Boman (L), Richard Matkin (UST), and John Litle (NLP) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]

Mikkelson faced Rick Snyder (R), Virg Bernero (D), Ken Procter (L) and Stacey Mathia (U.S. Taxpayers) in the general election on November 2, 2010.
