Harold Metts (b. October 6, 1947) has been a Democratic member of the Rhode Island Senate since 2004, representing the 6th district.
Education
Metts earned his BS in Business Administration from Roger Williams University in 1970. He went on to receive his Social Business Teacher Certification from Bryant College in 1975. He then earned his MEd in Education-Secondary Administration from Rhode Island College in 1983.
Professional experience
Metts worked as assistant principal/educator/coach for Providence School Department. He also served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976.
Political experience
Metts served in the Rhode Island State House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. From 1997 to 1998, he was the House Deputy Majority Leader. He joined the Rhode Island State Senate in 2004. He has served in that position since, representing the 6th district.

Metts and his wife Dayus Young have three children.
