A Hayden School District Levy Increase measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the Hayden school district area which is in Routt County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 495 (50.71%)Approveda
  • NO 481 (49.28%)[1]

This measure sought to increase the school district property taxes by $321,473 a year for a period of four years in order to further help pay for school programs and staff salaries.[2] The school was forced to make cuts to the budget due to reduced state funds, but said they hoped the proposed measure would make up some of those shortfalls. The last time the district asked for an increase to local property taxes was in 2002. A local group in favor of this measure, Citizens for Referendum 3B campaigned and informed residents about the benefits of this issue by holding meetings for local groups as well as going door to door.[3]

Current Statewide

A 2013 statewide measure, Amendment 66, would authorize Colorado to increase taxes with an expected revenue increase of $950 million for school funding.[4]
