Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mello is a graduate of Graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.A. in political science), 2002. Prior to his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Senator Mello worked as the senior aide to United States Senator Ben Nelson. [1]
Mello has professional experience as a coordinator for the Metro Community College Foundation.
Mello is currently involved with a number of organizations, including Knights of Columbus, Q Merchants Association, Saint Thomas More Parish, South Omaha Business Association, South Omaha Development Project, and the South Omaha Optimists.
