- As soon as you register as a user, a “user page” identified by that user name is automatically created by the underlying wiki software. That user page is blank until you add information to it.
- -An empty page shows up as a red lettered tab in the wiki.
- -You can access your user page from any page in the wiki, by clicking your user name at the top of the window.
- You don't have to put anything on your user page. However, editing your user page and adding content to it helps readers get to know you and have a higher value for your work. It is not uncommon for people to start out with very brief information on their user page and to expand it over time.
- Adding to your user page: You can use this as a spot to tell people about yourself, list the articles you've worked on, or your personal sandbox for Ballotpedia will work. If nothing else, you could just say what state you live in or what issues you are interested in.
Here's what to do:
- Add a short paragraph about yourself on your user page by clicking on the "edit" tab of your user page. If it is easier for you, create your paragraph on a word processing program and then copy and paste it into the edit box.
- Be sure to click "preview" to see how it looks, and then click "save page." The "user page" tab will now contain blue linked letters.
- You can use the rest of the page to place links to your favorite pages on the wiki, and to try out the "look" of some editing code you are learning!
