This measure sought to increase local property taxes by .25 mills for a further two years in order to help the schools with emergency needs as they arose.[2] The increase was suggested by school board members because of the loss of state funding for school programs and the inability of the district to maintain these programs operating on the current budget. It was estimated that around $2.2 million would be raised each year with this additional levy.[3]
