The Highland School District Referendum was a bond issue placed on the February 17 ballot by the school board in the Highland School District, in Iowa County where it was defeated. The measure sought to exceed the state-set revenue limits for schools by $405,000 by 2011, and an additional $405,000 per year thereafter. If approved, the additional funds would have been used to pay basic recurring costs of the district.

Total: $405,000 by 2011 and annually thereafter
Status
The measure was defeated, with 158 "yes" votes and 298 "no" votes.[1]

Wording of referendum
Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Highland, Iowa County, Wisconsin, that the revenues included in the School District be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by an amount not to $150,000 FOR THE 2009-10 SCHOOL YEAR; BY AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED AN ADDITIONAL $130,000 (FOR A TOTAL OF $280,000) FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR; AND BY AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED AN ADDITIONAL $125,000 (FOR A TOTAL OF $405,000) FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR AND THEREAFTER FOR RECURRING PURPOSES[1]
