Homestead Valley county service area parcel tax, Measure A, August 2009
From Ballotpedia
A Homestead Valley county service area parcel tax, Measure A was on the August 25, 2009 ballot in Marin County for voters in the unincorporated area of Homestead Valley, where it was approved.[1]
The question voters faced was whether to impose an annual $125-per-parcel tax. There are about 1,100 parcels in Homestead Valley so if the tax is approved, it will generate about $138,000 in taxes.[1] The tax could increase by 2% a year, under the terms of Measure A. 60% of the taxes raised, if Measure A is approved, will go to maintain the Homestead Valley Community Center. The rest will go to the Homestead Valley Land Trust "for wildland fire hazard reduction projects, ongoing vegetation management, trail maintenance and trail improvements to open space areas."[2]
The election was conducted on a mail-in ballot only basis. 1,685 mail ballots were sent to eligible voters. Ballots had to be returned by 8 p.m. on August 25. Ballots that were postmarked on August 25, but did not arrive on August 25, were not counted.
The measure was approved.[3]
