A Honey Lake Valley Community Swimming Pool County Service Area Special Tax ballot measure, also known as Measure R, was on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Lassen County, California for voters who live in the Honey Lake Valley Community Swimming Pool County service area. It was defeated.

  • In favor: 4,625 (52.68%). Measure R needed a 2/3rds vote to pass.
  • Opposed: 4,154 (47.32%)

Measure R was proposed by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors. It suggests that a new county service area be formed having territory the same as the Lassen Union High School District for the purpose of supporting the operation of a community swimming pool.

Measure R also authorizes the proposed Honey Lake Valley Community Swimming Pool County Service Area (“the Service Area”) to levy a special tax in the amount $25 per annum on each inhabitable dwelling unit on each parcel of real property within the Service Area beginning in fiscal year 2009-2010 for the purposes of supporting the operation of:

  • A community swimming pool to be constructed on land owned by the Lassen Union High School District, or,
  • A comparable pool project of the same size, scope, and scale by another entity.
