The election was scheduled by a vote of the district's school board.
The ballot question facing voters was whether to approve new district indebtedness of $12.3 million for the purposes of "Erecting, furnishing and equipping an addition to the middle and high school; remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping existing school facilities; acquiring and installing educational technology in school building; and developing and improving athletic facilities, play fields and sites."
The school board motion to put the bond issue on the August 5 ballot was introduced by school board member Christopherson with support from school board member Pachmayer. All school board members voted in favor.
If the bond election is successful, the district's current millage rate of 8.89 will not increase; however, the district's debt payment schedule will be extended for four years, from 2026 to 2030.
