Two Huron County Wind Energy Ordinance proposals were on the November 2, 2010 ballot in Huron County.

Both measures were approved
Proposal 1:

  • YES 2,045 (59.25%)Approveda
  • NO 1,406 (40.75%)

Proposal 2:

  • YES 2,022 (59.09%)Approveda
  • NO 1,400 (40.91%)[1]

These proposals, since they were approved, will allow the approval of the County ordinances creating overlapping wind energy districts in the townships of McKinley, Bloomfield, Rubicon and Sigel. A petition was submitted to put the ordinance approval to a vote, more than enough signatures were collected though some residents now claim that they signed the petitions under false pretenses. Some claim that they were not informed of the actual purpose, they thought it was for wind energy approval. Only those in the zoning area needed to sign the petitions.[2]
