In the Idaho gubernatorial election of 2010, held on November 2, 2010, Republican Butch Otter defeated Democrat Keith Allred. Otter is already the incumbent Governor.
Following the May 25, 2010 primary elections, Allred and Otter both easily won their party nominations.
November 2, 2010 general election results
All precincts have reported and the Secretary of State expects to release certified results on November 17th. By law, the Secretary must certify results by the 18th on the month (see Sec. 34-1215, Idaho Code).
These results are now certified.[1]

Among major party contenders, both Democrat Keith Allred and Republican Butch Otter secured a plurality, thereby avoiding run-offs.

- Keith Allred, a professor of conflict resolution and leadership who also founded the nonpartisan 'Common Interest' activist group to encourage citizen involvement in legislation.
- Retired Marine Lee R. Chaney Jr. also ran for governor on the Democratic ticket in 2006.
Independent
- Jana M. Kemp is a businesswoman and author who previously served in Idaho's House of Representatives
- Marvin Richardson is a long term abortion issues activist who has legally changed his middle name to 'Pro-Life'; in addition to campaign and activism work, he owns a organic strawberry farm. His perpetual candidacy and unorothodox approach earned him national media attention.[14]
