Illinois Statehouse News is an online capital news bureau and an initiative of Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity. It produces daily content that covers the entire state of Illinois through a combination of capital news reporting and investigative journalism.

ISN also offers its content, without charge, to Illinois news broadcasters, media organizations and citizen journalists, with the understanding that the outlets give ISN and its writers credit for the stories.[1]

ISN has a full-time reporter in the courtroom for the Rod Blagojevich trial, which began June 3, 2010.

Society of Professional Journalists Finalist

Illinois Statehouse News partnered with journalism students from Columbia College on a four-month investigation project that looked into the scandal-plagued General Assembly Scholarship Program. The Society of Professional Journalists named ISN and the Columbia College students national finalists for the SPJ Mark of Excellence Award.[2]
