SPRINGFIELD, Illinois: The petition drive deadline has come and gone in Illinois. None of the proposed initiated constitutional amendment qualified for the 2010 ballot. Days prior to the May 3rd deadline, Fair Map Amendment supporters reported that they were unable to gather sufficient signatures.[1] A May 9 report revealed that the proposed "Putback" Amendment effort had also failed. However, supporters said a proposal is being considered for the 2012 statewide ballot.[2]

In order to qualify for the 2010 statewide ballot initiative supporters were required to collect a minimum of 278,934 valid signatures (8% of the total votes cast for governor in the last election) by May 3, 2010.
