Iowa Voter Qualifications, Amendment 1 (2008)

The Iowa Voter Qualifications Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Iowa on November 4, 2008, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure repealed Section 5 of Article II of the Iowa Constitution and replaced it with a section that provided that persons "adjudged mentally incompetent to vote" or persons "convicted of any infamous crime" not be eligible to vote.[1][2][3]
